    About ten yours after the surfacing of the term, it is time to review the development of the so-called greening of industry. Some fundamental trends are outlined and explained by a set of typical examples provided by the ambitious efforts of enterprises towards preserving and enhancing their competitiveness in a global economy. After the discussion of current mainstreams, some requirements for achieving the goal of sustainability are derived
