Abstract
A simplified analytical model for a rectifier/current source inverter (CSI) induction motor drive is developed and verified by comparing computer results with those obtained for the same system represented in detail. The simplified model, which represents system behavior in the synchronous reference frame, neglects converter harmonics but includes an approximation of the voltage spikes produced during inverter commutation. Computer simulation results demonstrate the usefulness of the simplified model for the study of control dynamics.
