Abstract :
This study investigates the transmittance, phase difference and real permittivity data of pesticide. Pesticide is very similar to bacillus anthracis, known to cause anthrax and its dielectric information could be used for the detection of explosive powders. Dispersive Fourier Transform Spectroscopy was employed to conduct the measurements from 90 to 650 GHz. The transmittance and phase difference values of pesticide specimens with three distinct densities are presented. Greatest transmittance and real permittivity values are recorded at the lowest density whereas; phase difference values decrease with increasing density. Dielectric properties; namely absorption coefficient and loss tangent, are also provided for pesticide and corn starch. The molecular structures of powders are provided for explaining the differences in the dielectric data.
