  • Abstract
This work describes four quadrant operation of D.C. motor with reduce number of switches in hybrid converter topology. By using such converter dc motor can operate in four quadrants. This concept reduces switching losses of MOSFET and improves efficiency, dynamic response of the system also shows the dynamic braking of motor to achieve forward braking and reverses braking operation successfully implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. A comparative study is performed with conventional eight switches converter with proposed two switches hybrid converter for four quadrant operation of a DC machine. The simple H-Bridge topology is used to eliminate switches from conventional converter, modified topology is also easy to control in braking mode also. The MATLAB simulation and results are discussed.
