Abstract :
The occupant distribution estimation in buildings is of great importance for energy saving and evacuation. Infrared beam sensors are widely used in this field but own low accuracy. In this paper, we propose a dual-infrared sensing system which could improve the accuracy with little additional cost. An analysis of the improvement of dual-infrared system in theory is done and three principles of in-zone infrared sensors are obtained. A numerical test on the new system is shown in this paper and the new system leads to a smaller estimation error. This work has a guiding significance in further improvement of occupant distribution systems.
