Abstract :
The reliability of an industrial power supply can be significantly improved by modifying the electric motors´ re-acceleration scheme. This will mitigate the effect of lengthy and simultaneous acceleration by staggering the high inrush current demand. Transient simulations were performed at an integrated petrochemical facility to verify the effectiveness of the existing re-acceleration scheme. The results indicated that the existing scheme will perform better with some changes as discussed further
