Abstract
The paper presents the Finite Elements simulation of the Cross Wedge Rolling process that has been pursued in order to investigate the mechanism of fracture and internal defects occurrence during the manufacturing of high quality steel products, such as automotive mechanical parts. The development of the simulation procedure has been articulated in different phases, in order to cope with the complexity of this task and to investigate the effect of different simulation parameters. The simulation has also been refined and validated by exploiting some experimental data related to two industrial steel grades that are usually adopted for the products that are manufactured to cross wedge rolling. The results of the final validation stage are presented and discussed in the paper.
