WHEN INTEL CEO Brian Krzanich announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January that his company is to spend $300m over the next five years to bring more women and minorities into its US workforce, the move was universally welcomed as necessary but also bold. ´Bold´ because it underlined the scale of the task engineering still faces in making its workforce reflect society´s composition as a whole.
