Abstract :
Recent years have witnessed an explosive growth of wireless technologies and applications. The adoption of a wide range of multimedia applications on wireless devices has been made possible through the advances in wireless technologies. Only one aspect is not catching up, which is re-chargeable battery for mobile devices. Without disruptive new approaches for energy saving, mobile users will relentlessly be searching for power outlets rather than network access, and become once again bound to a single location. In this paper, we address the cooperation among wireless nodes in a cluster for the main goal of saving the battery power of mobile terminals. This paper studies the possibility of decreasing energy consumption through relaying data over short range technologies through cluster head. Relaying nodes sacrifice resources for the sake of other devices; hence a trading model based on Cournot model is proposed to offer incentives for relays. Simulation results demonstrate the gains in energy saving. The proposed algorithm also guarantees that the required QoS is always maintained.
