Abstract :
The performance capabilities of short-length analog photonic links employing optical amplification with erbium-doped fiber amplifiers are presented. Optically-amplified links are compared to their unamplified counterparts in terms of gain, noise figure, spurious-free dynamic range, and compression dynamic range. The new concepts of generalized relative intensity noise and optical amplifier noise penalty are used for the analytical and experimental analysis
