Abstract :
The AESS Pioneer award is the society´s premier honor and has been awarded yearly since 1949. This award is presented to an individual or small team for: ???contributions significant to bringing into being systems that are still in existence today.??? The contributions for which the award is bestowed are to have been made at least twenty (20) years prior to the year of the award to ensure proper historical perspective. These systems should be within the specific areas of interest of the AESS; that is, electronic or aerospace systems. It is not a condition that the award winner(s) should have been the sole or original inventor or developer of the system. ???Significant contribution,??? of a specific nature, is the key criterion. Nationality, residence, membership in AESS, IEEE, or any other organization are not factors.
