Abstract
The effect of mechanical passive factors on the regional time delay (TD) of fiber shortening in stunned myocardium was examined using a computer model. Experimental data showed that TDs were much longer in the stunned zone than in the prestunned and nonstunned zones. In addition, a correlation coefficient of 0.63 between TD and end-diastolic segment length in stunned myocardium was round. A computer model of the left ventricle was divided into two separate regions, normal and stunned. The model employed an exponential relationship between pressure and volume in the stunned region. It was found that when the end-diastolic volume (EDV) of the stunned region increased, passive compliance (Cp) decreased while TD increased, similar to the experimental result
