Abstract :
Cross SNR layer motion estimation/motion compensation (ME/MC) scheme is proposed in this paper for the SNR scalability of scalable video coding. Both the motion information and residual information are refined at the enhancement layers by our cross SNR layer ME/MC scheme. A good trade-off between motion information and residual information can be obtained at all bit rates. The coding efficiency is improved by up to more than 1 dB at high bit rate.
