Abstract
The DGD wavelength dependence and statistics of single mode fibers were emulated by a concatenation of HiBi fibers segments with random coupling lengths and angles. The results indicate that modeling PMD with the coarse-step method requires random coupling lengths in order to account for 2nd order PMD
