Abstract :
The spatial-harmonic magnetron (SHM) is a tube, which utilizes a spatial harmonic of the RF field of a non π-mode (usually the π/2-mode or a neighboring one) for its operation. An overview of the most important results towards the development of THz sources on the basis of SHMs is presented. Characteristics and design solutions of the already developed and produced 95 - 225 GHz magnetrons are presented. The current status of the development of 320 GHz magnetron is discussed as well.
