Abstract :
The development of THz multielement uncooled imagers based on focal plane arrays (FPAs) requires an optimization of the system parameters to achieve homogeneous sensitivity of the array elements. We present the results of numerical simulation of the eight-element linear array of planar antennas with detecting elements as FPA, on a substrate of finite planar dimensions and thickness. Substrate parameters suitable for FPA implementation were estimated. The gain of array elements, the homogeneity of the detector sensitivity, and the antenna-detector matching can be optimized by the proper choice of the substrate thickness h and the permittivity e. We show that multielement systems with large substrate thickness and high e are not suitable for the imaging system implementation.
