Abstract :
A simple and versatile regenerative power circuit is presented. The circuit can be installed in a voltage source PWM (pulse-width modulated) drive controller to allow power flow to and from the AC mains. The circuit features add-on capability, fully coordinated fault protection, and operation with a unity displacement power factor at all power levels. The design objectives and control strategy are described, and regeneration controller performance is presented. It is noted that the controller represents an attractive alternative to the use of dual full-converters as front-ends in regenerative four-quadrant PWM voltage source drive controllers
