Abstract
With market condition today, the economics is such that consumers and engineers are looking for the best fit for the application at the most reasonable cost in purchasing induction motors. This paper compares the performance of torque and rotor loss for two different electrical steel thicknesses (0.35mm & 0.5mm) as designed by FEM Software. Generally, 0.35mm thickness of material can outstand 0.5mm thickness of material in terms of better performance in loss reduction. Simulation analysis shows that the 0.35mm thicknesses steel sheet has a decrement of 18.8% for the rotor loss and an increment of 5.99% efficiency as compared to that of 0.5mm steel sheet.
