Abstract
A new method for linewidth studies in a primary wavelength standard is proposed, resulting in the determination of the saturation parameter in iodine. In this method, based on variation principle, the linewidth information is obtained through comparison of the accurate beat-frequency data with calculation results, obtained for beams with Gaussian intensity distribution.
