Abstract :
This paper mainly considers the balance of radar system resource and performance improvement in PM waveform design. An evaluation factor is proposed to describe the potential performance improvements of PM waveform over LFM waveform. The computing method of this factor is also given. According to this factor, a threshold is set, and then abundant unnecessary PM waveform design processes can be prevented. A lot of radar system resource can be saved with almost identical performance improvements. Simulations illustrate the effectiveness of this method.
