Abstract :
This paper presents an optical interferometer for non-incremental distance measurements based on a frequency-modulated laser diode. The presence of a suitable optical feedback enables to get measurements also beyond the coherence length of the laser. The system resolution is of 50 /spl mu/m over a range of 0.4 m at a working distance from 0.4 up to 1.5 m.
