Abstract
Extending a coupled mode theory of directional couplers with parallel step index fibers, an analytical solution for the coupling coefficients of curved and birefringent fibers is obtained. This model allows a fast simulation to describe the behavior of the coupler as part of a complexer optical circuit. Numerical results for the power exchange between fibers 3M-FS-HB-4611 are presented and discussed
