Abstract :
We investigate the occupancy statistics of a wireless channel shared by a large number of terminals randomly distributed in the plane and employing the listen- before-talk coexistence etiquette. Relying on a realistic propagation model that accounts for the path loss with distance and log-normal shadowing, we present a new semi-analytical performance analysis. A state-dependent model is introduced that accurately tackles the spatial characteristics of signal propagation and the effect of hidden terminals. This is used to give a lower bound on the blocking probability of the shared wireless link.
