  • Abstract
The purpose of the RACE 2044 “Magic” project is to develop and investigate B-ISDN signalling protocols. Magic has identified the need to introduce an extra functional level that deals with the network resources in the CCITT Q.73 model. The paper gives the justification for this level and describes a possible basis for a resource control (RC) protocol. The resource control FE is responsible to realize the telecommunication service requested by users. The proposed method uses atomic actions to exchange information between cooperating RC nodes
