    Pad mounted distribution switchgears are widely used for more than 40 years. In the last 15 years, many utilities, among them Hydro-Quebec distribution, noticed growing failure rates. These failures being associated with arcing fault studies were conducted to ascertain the failure mode and to identify the mean to mitigate the effects of theses arcing fault
