Abstract :
To improve bandwidth efficiency and error performance, partial response signalling and trellis coded modulation are considered together for QAM. A new receiver for a data transmission system employing modified quadrature partial response trellis coded modulation (M/QPR-TCM) is investigated, As an example M/QPR-TCM is applied to 4QAM and M/6QPR-TCM is introduced. Simulation studies are done for different modulation schemes in the case. M/6QPR-TCM is upper bounded on mobile satellite fading channels. In simulations for fading parameter K=0, it is shown that M/6QPR-TCM has better error performance than 4QAM-TCM after SNR values of 11 dB. M/6QPR-TCM is also tight upper bounded on Rician channels
