Abstract
This paper evaluates the diversity performance analytically in order to improve the data transmission performance of a CDMA system under a frequency selective fading environment. A distributed antenna (DA) system, in which the space diversity effect is anticipated, is considered to activate the path diversity effect for the RAKE receiver in the CDMA system. Our theoretical analysis proves that in the DA system, the diversity performance primarily depends on the inter-antenna interference and the radio channel estimation error. In addition, this paper clarifies the ways in which the diversity method can be improved for use with PCS systems
