Abstract
We deal with the estimation of the structure of the covariance matrix of the noise and its application to adaptive radar detection of coherent pulse trains in compound-Gaussian clutter. Resorting to secondary data, free of signal components, we propose an estimator which, plugged into the NMF in place of the actual covariance matrix, leads to an adaptive detector CFAR with respect to the statistics of the noise
