Abstract :
The quality and extent of specifications developed for rotating electrical machinery will have a direct impact on the economic operation of all industrial facilities. This work provides an overview of how specifications can be developed for purchasing, operating, maintaining, and repairing large motors. The service life of all rotating machinery can be extended through a planned maintenance program that reflects operating conditions and the reliability desired. First cost versus operating cost can be optimized only when all factors in the industrial environment are considered
