  • Abstract
To ensure that the future students / researchers are equipped for operate the new Smart Grid, the diversification of the Power Engineering Education is required. Fundamentals of Smart grid Technology such as Communications, Wide area Measurements, Systems Theory and Control, renewable energy penetration, cyber-security and standards requirements must be included. An overview of the Smart Grid Fundamentals architecture, performance requirements, analytical and decision support tools, as well as renewable energy resources will be presented. Focus will be placed on the course / curricula development for Smart Grid Fundamentals education which will be geared to undergraduate, graduate audiences as well as for technical personnel and policy makers.
