Abstract
The author describes how, in working with NGC Transmission Services, Yorkshire Electricity´s Special Markets have developed particular business expertise. This allows large energy users to make commercial decisions based on the NGC´s obligation to maintain the quality of electricity supply in terms of the security and stability of the England and Wales Transmission System. Through accumulated expertise and understanding of industrial processes, Special Markets have continually sought to develop new demand side services, an example of which is the provision of frequency response from disconnectable load
