Abstract :
A convenient set of functions is identified whose span includes all functions in a tower of function fields of Garcia and Stichtenoth (see Journal of Number Theory, vol.61, no.2, p.248-73, 1996) that have poles only at the place at infinity. The latter set is of interest in the construction of long and efficient algebraic geometric (AG) codes
