Abstract
In a wireless LAN environment, the mobility of portable terminals, introduces several issues that need to be considered in the design of the network. The ability of a network in supporting mobile terminals lies very much in the network architecture and the protocols used. In the paper, the impact of mobile computers on the existing LAN architecture and the protocols used such as TCP/IP is studied. A robust network architecture is proposed, together with some new interworking procedures in order for the network and protocols to handle mobile computing
