Abstract :
The authors have developed a system using precise carrier phase GPS (Global Positioning System) techniques to detect displacement for monitoring the mechanical behavior of an extensive area at the level of a few centimeters. In this paper, the system concepts are described and results of the field experiments to prove the applicability of the system are given. Field tests show that displacements on the order of 2 cm can be detected
