Abstract
This paper describes design concept of an STM-based high speed digital FTTH system that can provide not only high speed digital end-to-end service, but also digital video services such as distribution video and video-on-demand services. The configuration and protocol of the video service control are also discussed. The node functions needed for video services are discussed considering system introduction when the density of video-on-demand customers is low. A prototype system offering bi-directional STM-1 transmission is also described
