Abstract :
Priority queues and their applications in handoff procedure are discussed in detail. A new priority scheme called “lowest power first serve is introduced. A idle channel is assigned for a handoff attempt whose received power from current base station is closest to the receiver threshold in the scheme. The results of computer simulations show that the probability of forced to termination in the proposed priority scheme decreases compared with some priority schemes used currently while similar probability of blocking origination calls is kept
