Abstract
The author describes how the practice of employing sources of power from more than one utility grid substation to feed extensive electric railway medium voltage distribution rings can provide improvements in supply security, provided that the new protective relay techniques now available are applied. This refers particularly to the facility for automatic selection of relay settings to correspond to changes in the location of the power source
