Abstract :
The role of electrical charges injected into crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) due to impulse voltage is studied with the electroluminescence (EL) technique. It is shown that EL emission depends on the repetition frequency and the number of consecutive impulses initially applied to the polymer. The spectra of EL emitted by XLPE are in the visible and the ultraviolet ranges
