Abstract :
Studies of spatial distributions of space charge/polarization in biaxially oriented and prepoled polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) films by laser intensity modulation method (LIMM) and hysteresis measurement at 1 Hz and room temperature confirm that the nonuniform polarization distribution, which appears to get progressively enhanced towards the anode with increasing poling field, arises from dipolar orientation. Injected space charges, localized near the electrode polymer interface, tend to prevent the formation of uniform polarization in the polymer bulk
