Abstract :
In order to generate the tool geometry data model of STEP data structure in keeping with the ISO14649 protocol, achieve the tool geometry simulation of NC machining simulation process, the paper analyzes STEP standard and its file structure, develop the display software which can read and display the STEP format file of tool cutter based on open source Open CASCADE geometric kernel by using the Visual Studio 2008 software development environment, designs one instance,twist drill, by using Solidworks software, and stored as a STEP format file in Solidworks environment, and then, using the software developed in this paper to read and display this twist drill, which have been saved as the STEP file. This research results to improve the precision of CNC machining simulation, expand the range of CNC machining simulation, and laid a good foundation for the simulation of the geometry design and parameter optimization of tool.
