Abstract :
We compare the performance of three Japanese supercomputers, the Fujitsu VP2600, the Hitachi S-820 and the NEC SX-2. Using a suite of six benchmarks which we had earlier proposed. These include the random number generator, elementary function computations, Fast Fourier Transform, dense matrix operations, rule-specified sparse matrix operations and list vector operations. Using these small to medium size kernels, we were able to obtain interesting peculiarities of each machine
