Abstract
The two-photon spectroscopy is applied to the hydrogen atom to measure the Lamb shift of the 1S level and the Rydberg constant. We have deduced the 1S Lamb shift from the comparison of the 1S-3S and 2S-6S/D transitions. In another experiment, a very precise measurement of the Rydberg constant is being performed from a direct frequency comparison of the 2S-8S/D transition with a two-photon rubidium standard at 778 nm.
