Abstract
In this paper, a blind estimator of the symbol rate of Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) signals is proposed, which is based on the investigation of the cyclic property of CPM signals. Through the analysis of the different cyclic profiles, we arrive at the conclusion that the discrete lines on the carrier frequency α-profile (f= fc) are simply related with the modulation parameters of CPM signals, and propose a non-data aided algorithm to estimate the symbol rate of CPM signals. This estimator can deal with the intermediate frequency signals directly without accurate estimation of the carrier frequency, and simulation results sustain that this algorithm has good noise resistant performance.
