Abstract
In 1992, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) awarded an $8 million contract to the Optoelectronic Technology Consortium (OETC) to develop a high speed, optical backplane interconnect. This paper describes the design, development and testing of the optical connector link serving the OETC group and users. The data link components include the transmitter and receiver modules, MACII modular interconnects, 32 fiber MACII connectors, ruggedized ribbon cable and optical fiber
