Abstract
Discharge currents which are caused by the drift of charge carriers in highly insulating polymer samples were observed. This interpretation is supported by the intensity and the time constant of the relaxation and the nonlinear relationship between stored charge and external field. The investigations were carried out on samples with partially blocking contacts as well as in an arrangement with air gaps between both electrodes and the samples. Thus it is possible to obtain information on the density of charge carriers in the sample materials. The charge distribution in the sample volume can be calculated
