Abstract

Describes a system that provides a “work-at-home” environment based on a virtual shared room built on a 3D graphics workstation. We realize an “awareness space” on the system to avoid the tradeoff between providing a facility for informal communication and keeping one´s workspace information private from other people´s awareness. Also, this system provides users with a feeling of their presence at a virtual office by using a so-called “around view” and sound effects
