Abstract
A discussion is given on the design of a compensator for security and stability of an electric power system when a generator is switched in quickly. The problem of fast following synchronization of a generator is reduced to a 2×2 multivariable system with interval parameters in frequency domain. The interaction between two loops cannot be ignored. The Reversed Frame Normalizing method is employed. For given interval parameters, one compensator is found to satisfy the requirements simultaneously. The experimental result proves that the RFN compensator is satisfactory as a fast following synchronizer of generators
