Abstract
The object of the present paper is the presentation of the first experiences made by the authors in the realization of an accurate, high current and wide band current transducer characterized by low cost and small size. The working principle of the device is based on the combination of a Rogowski coil and a D.C. electronic transducer connected to a split conductor current sensor in order to increase the range of the measurable current. The complete project of the device, whose block diagram is reported in the present paper, will allow one to estimate currents up to kA in a range of frequencies from D.C. to 1 MHz with a overall accuracy less than 0.5%. In the paper a description of the different measurement principles is reported together with first experimental results relative to the Rogowski coil section. The data obtained exhibit an encouraging coherence to the proposed target
