Abstract
Video has become an important element of multimedia computing and communication environments, with applications as varied as broadcasting, education, publishing and military intelligence. However, in the content of current information technology, it remains a highly passive medium. This paper discusses three tools for interacting with digital video: interactive video icons, a video streamer and a hierarchical viewer. It also provides a case study of how these techniques may be applied to a full-length video
