Abstract
A proposal for extending the bandwidth of a linear horizontal spiral monopole is presented in this work. The proposal consists in the addition of an optimized rectangular loop over the antenna. It is used as a parasite element. A bandwidth of 60.87% was obtained. The analysis of the problem was numerically performed by the finite-difference time-domain method truncated by the uniaxial perfectly matched layers formulation.
